Parents Safety Pledge
Recognizing the important role that a parent plays in helping to maintain a safe learning environment at school i hereby pledge that:
- I will demonstrate respect for others and encourage discussion about the importance of tolerance toward others who have different beliefs from our own.
- I will take positive action against violence directed at any person, or any physical or verbal abuse based on race, creed, gender, or any other characteristic.
- I will support violence prevention/safety promotion strategies in the schools and communities in my area.
- I will model and encourage discussion about the importance of tolerance toward others who have different beliefs from our own.
- I will help the school develop programs to prevent and eliminate violence.
- I will support the school’s policies on guns and weapons, and focus upon the responsibility we all have when dealing with guns and weapons.
- I will take seriously any reports of weapons or violence at school.
- I will contact the school immediately if my student tells me about any bullying activity, including the inappropriate use of technology (Web pages, text messaging, instant messenger and camera phones).
- I will demonstrate respect for others and validate their concerns, encouraging those who provide positive role models for their peers.
- I will model and encourage positive conflict management skills.
- I will discuss with my middle and high school students the need for vigilance and the steps to take when reporting a suspicious incident.
- I will be a positive role model for my child and encourage sportsmanship by showing respect and courtesy, and by demonstrating positive support at every game, practice or other sporting events.
